Economics is one of the vibrant disciplines in the field of social sciences. This is an age old department of the institution. Professors of this department have been teaching Economics, Commerce, Geography and Environmental studies during the course of time. Once the department had 150+ students admitted in a year; however with lack of employability in the subject, less number of students are now getting enrolled. However, there is no lack of resource persons in the department as there are 4 full-time teaches including the Principal of the college himself. In view of the future potentiality of the subject, the institution has decided to introduce Economics as a Major subject since 2023-24 academic year. Besides, the teaching learning processes in classes- teachers of this department are actively associated with academic activities of other state aided University and Colleges. It also has organized Certificate course on multidisciplinary fields in academic space.

There is no separate department library for Economics in the college. However, there is a big pull of books, reports, bulletin and allied Teaching learning materials totaling 1722 including books of Book bank also. All this items are available and accessible in the central library of the college. The students, teachers and researchers of this particular discipline may also access 2 journals, namely Economic and Political Weekly (EPW) and Arthshastra- Indian Journal of Economics & Research.
